Touched By Suicide

I received a text from my oldest daughter. Someone told her there was a problem at a property she manages…and there was. She found a man in his car with an empty bottle of whiskey in his hand and a generator running in the backseat with all the windows rolled up. He was already dead.

At this point we know nothing of the man or why he chose to end his life but I do have some idea as to what can drive a person to such an action; the hopelessness and desperation. Other than generalities, I have no idea what was going on in his head, what he had done or thought he had done. I know nothing of his circumstances other than how he died.

Would a relationship with Jesus Christ have saved his life? I don’t know. Christians commit the sin of suicide everyday but for anyone out there struggling with depression or suicidal thoughts I do have a message for you:

God loves you and with Him all things are possible.

He loves you so much he formed you, even before birth in His own image. He loves you so much and so intimately that He knows the number of hairs on your head. He loves you so much that He sent His only son to suffer and die for the forgiveness of your sins. No matter what you have done or think you have done, He has paid the price and there is forgiveness for you…

NO

MATTER

WHAT.

If He could forgive those who tortured and put Him to death you have to know that there is forgiveness for you too.

If you are feeling hopeless, know that when it comes to God there is always hope. With the power to create the entire universe He can deliver you from whatever you are facing. If he can deliver the Israelites from Egypt, sending sign after sign, parting the Red Sea and providing food and water in the desert He can help with whatever you are struggling with. He delivered Noah from the flood, Jonah from the whale, Daniel from the lions, Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego from the fires. He can deliver you from your struggles too.

He is there to help you and so are lots of your fellow man as well. The National Suicide Prevention Hotline is staffed 24/7 and is there to help 1-800-273-8255. If you need help call on Him or call on someone else but get help. Please.

I pray for this man, all those touched by this man’s death, and for those he left behind. May God be with each of you and comfort you.

God bless
