The Battle Of Gonzalez

The first battle of the Texas Revolution against Santa Anna was fought on October 2, 1835 near the town of Gonzalez. Mexican troops were sent to seize a cannon the colonists used to defend against Comanche raids. The colonists kept their cannon and the Mexican Army withdrew.

Subsequent battles in Goliad and San Antonio would not go as well for the Texians.

God bless Texas!
