What Did You Prep This Week?

Between the holidays, a head cold, my work schedule and Wonderful Wife’s work schedule I apparently don’t know what day or week it is…

I published this post but thought I was only making notes for next week’s post. So this will be quick and to the point.

We stocked up on AA Batteries. I like to keep at least one extra large package around the house for emergencies and because we always seem to run out at the most inopportune times.

I went really, really ammo crazy this week:

file_000-18750 Rounds of 12 Ga. small game loads

150 rounds of 9mm practice

50 rounds of .380 practice

This purchase means that we have met our goals for 12 gauge small game loads. I didn’t plan on such a large purchase this week but Wonderful Wife called me from a garage sale and said they had ammo and it seemed to be good prices. I didn’t get the whole back story but they lady was selling her house and she had a closet full of ammunition, mostly 12 gauge, that she was getting rid of for half of the online retail price. All the ammo I picked up cost me less than $100! I didn’t buy any self-defense ammunition as this had been stored in the closet of a finished garage. It has been exposed to the humidity of the Texas Gulf Coast and the temperatures and temperature swings we see around here.

We added  to savings from out of Wonderful Wife’s paycheck.

That’s it for me. That’s what I prepped this week. How about you? What did you Prep this week?

God Bless

    1. Savings is going to be a real focus for us over the next year or two. I want a piece of land where we can hunt, camp, plant a garden, etc. Someplace that could also serve as a retreat should we need to get out of the city. With the way the local politicians spend money should the economy take a nosedive the city could face bankruptcy.

      Do you sell your reloads?

      God bless!

  1. Our preps this week pretty much came to a screeching stop as we put any extra income this week into relief efforts for victims of the Gatlinburg wildfires. Hoping to get back on track next week as we are just a few months from being completely debt free. Congrats on the excellent ammo deal!

    1. Is there a specific charity or relief effort you are donating to? I was about to write a check for a donation to another cause but I I may just redirect that instead. Thanks for mentioning it. I have been watching the news and my heart goes out to those folks.

Will you be completely debt free? We defined debt free as no unsecured debt. We still have our mortgage and car payment. The rule of thumb we use is that if we don’t have the money in the bank to pay the full principle we don’t take out the loan (except for the house) and the interest rate has to be the same or lower than what we would earn by keeping the money in savings or an investment. (again, the house is the exception).

      God bless!
