Despite doing everything “right” my luggage didn’t make my flight. It was delayed until a much later flight. The airline was willing to send it to the hotel but it wouldn’t arrive until after the start of my morning meetings. This left me stuck waiting in the airport for two hours until almost midnight with little to do but listen to the employees at the food court scream at each other.
Of late I have been doing a very poor job of studying God’s word and praying the way I should. Two hours in a miserable airport is a pretty good wake up call on my laziness as was this passage from the scripture I read tonight:
…make every effort to add to your faith goodness; and to goodness, knowledge; and to knowledge, self-control; and to self-control, perseverance; and to perseverance, godliness; and to godliness, mutual affection; and to mutual affection, love. For if you possess these qualities in increasing measure, they will keep you from being ineffective and unproductive in your knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.
2 Peter 1:5-8
Sometimes these little hiccups are blessing in disguise. Since that night I have been doing a much better job of reading the Bible and praying each day.
Those hours in the airport truly were a blessing in disguise.
