The Irony That is This Day

Today is the feast of St. Valentine who was killed for his faith. He refused to worship the gods of Rome even under penalty of death. He was later made the patron saint of courtly (non-physical) love. To celebrate this day we use the symbol of Cupid (also known as Eros) who was the Roman god of physical desire/lust (the opposite of courtly love) and one of the gods St. Valentine refused to worship…
