What Did You Prep This Week?

Walk With God

My walk with God has gone well this week. Bible study, prayer, Sunday school, church; I have been really focused on what is most important this week. I even managed an “inspirational” post this week based on a verse I read.

Self Defense/Hunting

Purchased .45 and .30 caliber collets for my bullet puller  I deconstructed a few .45 ACP rounds that I had made but weren’t usable for various reasons and recovered the bullets, powder and one piece of brass for reuse. I also did the same with a .30-30 round that I wasn’t happy with. This equipment will be especially useful when I am developing loads that don’t quite work out.

It looks like spring has come early to this part of Texas so it is time to get the garden started for the year. The local critters, squirrels or raccoons, made short work of our squash last year but the silver lining is that they apparently “planted” the seeds for us as we have a number of squash plants coming up already! I want to get some new plants that didn’t fare so well.

We were able to make a pretty sizable deposit into our savings. This is an area we really need to refocus on get a lot more money into savings. We have been spending way to much and I really want to be able to buy some land within the next couple of years.

During our recent hunting trip I got a lot of exercise. I was sore for days afterwards and it was just from falling down a hill. Not wanting to lose the progress i had made I have started exercising again. It’s not much but it is a start and if I can keep it up I can build up over time. I was able to keep up the momentum even with a migraine this week!

We bought a Ring doorbell to help provide a little more security. It is equipped with a motion sensor that alerts us to anyone on our porch. It provides two way voice so we can respond to someone at the door from anywhere in the house (or outside of it) as well as video of who/what’s there before we walk up to the door. The installation was pretty easy but we are still working a out a few questions and kinks.

That’s it for me. That’s what I prepped this week. How about you? What did you Prep this week?

God Bless

  1. Sounds like you’re hitting on all cylinders right now! I’m actually enjoying a little vacation time with the wife, working on the house, cleaning up our gardens and raised beds getting ready for planting season. Biggest focus right now is improving our grid down preparedness by adding a small solar system – but FedEx has delayed the shipment again – they’re not very good in this part of the woods. Keep up the great work, I always look forward to your posts.

  2. Nice job on total preps! I haven’t prepped much this week. Doing a lot of research into which AR to purchase. I am leaning strongly towards the new Savage MSR Recon 15. $759 at Grab a Gun. If you get a chance, check it out and tell me what you think. This will be a major purchase and I do not want to screw it up.

    1. I don’t have any personal experience with them but that should be a good barrel from Savage and chambered in .223 Wylde it should be very accurate. The 1:8 twist should be good balance lighter and heavier weight bullets too. The rest is pretty standard stuff.
      Hope this helps.
      God bless.
