Resistance – The Man Blind From Birth Stands Up To The Pharisees

The ruling oligarchy of Israel did their very best to suppress Jesus’ message. They spread rumors and lies to discredit Him and His followers. Those followers who were particularly vocal or visible faced expulsion from the synagogue. During that time such expulsion would have had way more impact than not being able to attend services. Expulsion would have blocked your children from getting an education and affected your ability to do business with other Jews. The marriage prospects of your children would have disappeared. For all intents and purposes, the oligarchy would have made you a non-person within your own country.

It sounds a lot like the how The Beast that has stolen our nation treats patriots today. Anyone standing against their agenda faces lies and ridicule in the media and the big tech platforms. Criticize them publicly enough and every Federal government agency will be crawling through your personal life looking to jail or fine you. Donate to the wrong cause and you can lose your job and be barred from gainful employment. It takes great courage to stand against the The Beast’s minions in our society today just as it did in Jesus’ time.

On His way to Jerusalem for the final time Jesus healed a man who had been blind from birth. This man had nothing to lose before having his sight restored since his was an outcast and a beggar already. Once his sight was restored he would have had everything to lose. He could have rejoined society. He could have a job and a wife and even a family. He suddenly had everything to lose when the powers that be summoned him for questioning. His own parents “threw him under the bus” rather than risk the wrath of their leaders. But this man, who didn’t know much about this Jesus other than He had given him his sight, stood up to them.

He was not a learned man. Until Jesus found him on the side of the road he was only a blind beggar, a man to be pitied and shunned due to his birth defect. Nevertheless, he stood up the the religious scholars and leaders. He lectured them on what it meant to be righteous and how Jesus’ actions showed that He was righteous. By comparison and since they were actively working against Jesus that meant that these self-righteous oligarchs were wrong.

He knew full well what consequences he would face for making this stand for what was right but he did it anyway and he was expelled from the synagogue. We don’t know much of what happened to the man after that other than he received another visit form Jesus and he accepted Him as his savior. His eternal future was assured even if his earthly life would be difficult.

I pray we each have this man’s courage; that we would all stand for what is right and just regardless of the consequences. For those of us who are Christians, it is our duty to stand against injustice and stand in defense of the oppressed. If we will all make that stand we can overthrow our own tyrants and return our country to what it was meant to be…

Welcome to the Resistance!

Be alert, get prepared, fight the good fight!

God bless and God save the Republic.

Remember, God did not promise that by accepting His grace and salvation we would lead happy, peaceful lives. He did not say that if we repent of our sins we would be prosperous based on the level of our faith.

In fact He said the opposite.

“Then they will deliver you to tribulation, and will kill you, and you will be hated by all nations because of My name. – Matthew 24:9

We (should) know making the decision to accept Christ and to “take up his cross” that there will be trials, pain, failure and even persecution.

Note: Across the globe about 90,000 Christians die because of their faith every year. Contrary to what the mainstream media might peddle, Christians are the most persecuted people group on Earth.

The knowledge of our salvation and the trust in a faithful God who will use all things for our good gives us the strength to persevere.

And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose. – Romans 8:28

And when it is our time to pass from this world, Christians have and will perish from this disease, we do so in the knowledge that we are moving on to something even better; life everlasting in His presence.

For momentary, light affliction is producing for us an eternal weight of glory far beyond all comparison… -2 Corinthians 4:17

For those of you who have accepted His grace, accept His peace as well by trusting in Him. Pray, not only for protection but for courage and comfort as well. I encourage you to look for ways to be the “hands and feet” of Jesus through this crisis. Even if it is just a smile and a friendly attitude toward those you encounter; online or from a suitable distance in the real world. Remember, we are to show His love to others every day. Even in a disaster, even in a pandemic…

Take care and God bless.

Not my circus, not my monkeys…

Not my circus, not my monkeys…

I have to keep repeating this to myself as I scroll through social media (this blog notwithstanding), especially FezBook.

I have tried to explain, that although this is serious, the sky is most definitely NOT falling. The world is NOT ending and we need to be calm and rational but prepared. For that I have been called names and insulted.

I have also tried to explain that, yes, this is more serious than the flu and we do need to take rational precautions. Again, I was called names and insulted.

Just like with politics, the people of this nation have grouped themselves into two extreme camps and no amount of logic or reason seems to break them from their confirmation bias.

I will be responsible for those God has given me responsibility for.  I will not offer any expertise to those on Facebook and other social media platforms unless it is requested. Again, this blog notwithstanding.

Again, not my circus, not my monkeys…

I hope that does not make me a bad Christian but I feel like I have limited cycles to spend helping folks so I better concentrate on those who might actually benefit from my research.

Take care and God bless.

Stripped Down Christianity

What does it mean to be a Christian?

I run into this question quite a bit and to be honest there is a very simple answer but that simple answer tends to lead to other questions that are not nearly so simple…

Since I have begun to post about “Fake Christianity” I thought it would be a good idea to make sure that the basic definition of true Christianity was clear for anyone who might read this blog. The Gospel, or Good News, is pretty simple and straightforward. It consists of just two basic parts:

1) We are all sinners.

Every single one of us are sinners. No matter how hard we try and no matter how well we are at pretending it isn’t true, we all fall short. Some of us may have actually committed horrible acts against ourselves or others. Some of us may have only committed such acts in our hearts or minds. Some of us may be guilty of what humans might consider fairly minor sins or sins of omission such as gossiping not being generous but we have all been measured and we all fall short.

2) Our Sins Can Be Forgiven Through Jesus Christ

God loves us and to save us from our own sinfulness He sent His son, Jesus Christ, who willingly suffered and died for us; paying with His blood for all of our sins. To receive that gift of salvation all we have to do is accept it and to repent. Accept His sacrifice and profess Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior and then repent of our sins. Repent is an old fashioned word that simply means to “turn away” from our sinful ways.

Does that mean we will automatically be transformed into saints who never sin again? Of course not. It just means that we will actively and consciously try and follow His Word and guidance and be more like Him and less like our own sinful selves.

Folks, that is it.

It really is as simple as that; recognize the sin in our lives, accept Jesus’ sacrifice as our savior, and turn away from a life of sin.

There are many variations but most churches have some sort of prayer to help people accept this gift and make this commitment. Here is one example:

“God, I know that I have sinned against You and deserve punishment. But I believe Jesus Christ paid for my sins so that through faith in Him I could be forgiven. I receive Your offer of forgiveness and place my trust in You for salvation. I accept Jesus as my personal Savior! ”

Like I said, it is really very simple.

With that said most people have lots of questions on how this all applies to daily, some would say real, life. Be patient. We will get there.

Take care and God bless.

Fake Christianity (#002)

Here is another example of someone twisting the core of Christianity in order to further a social agenda. Chelsea Clinton stated in a recent interview that she thinks it would be un-Christian to even consider changing current abortion laws:

“And when I think about all of the statistics that are painful of what women are confronting today in our country, and what even more women confronted pre-Roe and how many women died and how many more women were maimed because of unsafe abortion practices, we just can’t go back to that.”

“Like that’s unconscionable to me, and also, I’m sure that this will unleash another wave of hate in my direction, but as a deeply religious person, it’s also unChristian to me.”

First, she is right about one thing. We do need to care for these expectant mothers and protect them.

A new commandment I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so also you must love one another. By this all men will know that you are My disciples, if you love one another.”
-John 13:34

But the command to love and care for one another extends not only to the mothers but to the children. So does the commandment against murder or killing an innocent person. The Bible does not differentiate between born and unborn children. The Greek and Hebrew words used to describe children included both those who had been born and those who were unborn. As early as the first century church leaders had already taken a stand that abortion was wrong:

“Thou shalt not slay the child by procuring abortion; nor, again, shalt thou destroy it after it is born” (Letter of Barnabas 19 from 74 AD)

In the Old Testament, God consistently passes judgment on those who practiced child sacrifice.

You must not worship the Lord your God in their way, because in worshiping their gods, they do all kinds of detestable things the Lord hates. They even burn their sons and daughters in the fire as sacrifices to their gods.

The Israelites chose to ignore God’s word (much as we do now) and so (after repeated warnings through the prophets) He allowed them to be conquered and exiled into Babylon was because they had had turned away from Him and adopted the practice of child sacrifice.

As Christians we should care about people. All people. Those we like and those we don’t. Those who are living outside the womb and those living inside the womb. To say that allowing over 1 million unborn children to be killed every year in the US is a Christian virtue is a abomination.

Take care and God bless.

On a totally secular note, those who support abortion apparently lack a basic understanding of the human reproductive system. Pregnancy is 100% preventable. If you don’t want to have children you don’t have to and that can be done without having an abortion. Not just through abstinence either. There are lots of ways to engage in sexual activity and reach orgasm with 0% likelihood of pregnancy that results in the death of a child.

Paul, I owe some answers to your questions I just haven’t had time to finish it.

I tell you, whoever publicly acknowledges me before others, the Son of Man will also acknowledge before the angels of God. But whoever disowns me before others will be disowned before the angels of God. And everyone who speaks a word against the Son of Man will be forgiven, but anyone who blasphemes against the Holy Spirit will not be forgiven.

-Luke 12:8-10

Jesus Christ is my Lord and savior. I give myself to Him and will serve Him to the best of my abilities.

Palm Sunday Terror

Once again Christians in Egypt have been attacked and murdered. At least 44 have been killed and over 100 injured as they celebrated Palm Sunday services.

A little over two years ago ISIS beheaded 21 Christian from Egypt. At least 37 attacks on Christian by ISIS and Egyptian Muslims have been documented in the last year.

When the media talks about discrimination against certain religious groups and the targeting of people for their faith why is this not the story they broadcast? There are stories of increased scrutiny being require for potential terrorists and maybe the occasional harsh words and, very rarely, an actual instance of violence. But to be a Christian in a Muslim country means true persecution and a constant threat of violence; terror attacks such as this, as well as murder, kidnapping, extortion, assault, and rape.

Where is this story being told?

Dear Lord, please have mercy on the victims of persecution around the world. Accept them in your loving arms. Comfort those who have lost loved ones and heal those injured. In Jesus’ name, amen.

Merry Christmas Y’all!

“Fear not, for behold, I bring you good news of great joy that will be for all the people. For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord.

-Luke 2:10-11 (ESV)

God bless you and may the joy and peace of this holiday, the celebration of our savior’s birth, be with each and every one of you.

And as we say down here in Texas, Merry Christmas Y’all!

A Texas Nativity

I don’t think any commentary is needed on this video:

Saudis warn of reprisals if Congress passes 9/11 bill – The Saudi government is threatening economic reprisals if the US Congress passes a bill that would allow lawsuits against them for their role in 9/11. The official story is that Saudi Arabia is our friend and ally and had nothing to do with 9/11. If that were actually true why would the kingdom be threatening the US economy if US citizens were allowed to test that assertion in court?

Christian Genocide – Christians across the Islamic world are being persecuted. A fact generally ignored by the mainstream media. In less than a decade the Christian population of Iraq has gone from 1.4 million to just over a quarter of a million. Many have fled to other nations but many more have been tortured and killed. The numbers are similar in Syria where the number of Christians has been reduced by two thirds, from 1.5 million to around 500,000 since the war began. While these numbers are the most dramatic we see the same thing in Libya, Egypt, Pakistan, Nigeria and many other countries in the Islamic world.

I Don’t Care How You Define “Real” Muslims, and Neither Does ISIS – Chris Hernandez posted another spot on article on his blog last week, I encourage you to give it a read but in the meantime, here’s my favorite quote:

Everyone knows not all Muslims are jihadists, but everyone with an understanding of reality knows jihadists are actually Muslims. So please, stop claiming you know what all real Muslims think. Nobody cares. At least, the Muslims who believe Islam commands them to slaughter people don’t. If you’re positive you know what “real” Islam is, find your nearest ISIS fighter and argue with him about it. Because wasting time trying to convince me that “real Muslims would never be terrorists” doesn’t stop your so-called fake Muslims from murdering people.

God bless and have a great weekend!
